Tigres is close to securing its direct pass to the final phase of the Liga MX Clausura Tournament and needs a victory against the Xolos de Tijuana, led by Miguel Herrera.

The Tigres players do not forget Piojo Herrera’s phrase upon leaving the feline club. The Mexican coach expressed that “it is an old team”something that caused annoyance among the royal team.

Rafael Carioca, Tigres footballer, recalled that since Miguel Herrera left, the team has three titles.

“”For us it is different. We respect Miguel a lot, a good coach. Here in Tigres he did not manage to become champion, but we are focused on the game,” he commented.

“As for the team’s phrase of being old, we showed that we have a lot of quality to continue fighting for the championship. Miguel came out and we already won three trophies,” said the 34-year-old Brazilian.

Miguel Herrera has not had much success in Xolos de Tijuana either. The team is eliminated with just 14 points after 16 games. Although he has just added two consecutive victories.

It is unknown if Herrera will continue with the club for the 2025 Apertura Tournament after the failure in this Liga MX tournament.

Three teams have 28 points in the Liga MX table and are fighting for the last two places that advance directly to the final phase of Mexican soccer.

Tigres, Pachuca and Chivas de Guadalajara are tied on points and one behind Monterrey.

Tigres will seek victory at home against Tijuana; Chivas will be a visitor against Atlas and Pachuca faces Mazatlán at home. The three games will be this Saturday.
