Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump, has been chosen to serve as Florida’s delegate to the Republican National Convention.

The Florida Republican Party on Wednesday night elected former President Donald Trump’s youngest son, 18, as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Barron Trump, who will graduate high school next week and has largely stayed out of the political spotlight, will serve as one of Florida’s 41 at-large delegates to the July national meetingwhere the Republican Party will officially nominate his father as its presidential candidate for the November election.

The judge overseeing Donald Trump’s hush money trial in New York said there would be no court session on May 17 so Trump could attend his son’s graduation.

NBC News first reported on Barron Trump’s election as a delegate.

Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Trump’s youngest daughter, Tiffany, are also part of the Florida delegation to the convention in Milwaukee from July 15-18.

In addition to members of the Trump family, the Florida Republican Party approved several of the former president’s main supporters as general delegates of the Republican National Committee.

“We are fortunate to have a great group of grassroots leaders, elected officials and members of the Trump family working together as part of the Florida delegation to the 2024 Republican National Convention,” state party chairman Evan Power said in a release.

Donald Trump’s eldest daughter Ivanka, who served as an adviser to her father during his White House tenure, has since distanced herself and said she will not be part of his 2024 campaign.

Melania Trump has kept a low profile since her husband left office, but is expected to begin making more public appearances as the campaign progresses.
