Betty’s return is imminent! Prime Video announced the date of ‘Ugly Betty: The Story Continues’ and it will premiere on July 19 worldwide. The telenovela is the second part of the famous ‘Ugly Betty’, created by Colombian screenwriter Fernando Gaitán.

One of the most famous novels in Latin America will premiere on Prime Video. The project was born at RCN Studios and will be distributed on the streaming platform. Both companies have been working on the new version of ‘Ugly Betty’ for years.

On this occasion, the protagonists of the original series will play their respective roles. Both Ana María Orozco and Jorge Enrique Abello return as Betty and Don Armando.

What is the new version of Ugly Betty about?

The story begins with Beatriz Pinzón and Don Armando 20 years later. In the statement shared by Amazon Prime Video they expressed:

“While the empowered Betty remains married to her husband and company leader, Armando Mendoza, she rebuilds her relationship with her teenage daughter Mila, and tries to cope with the crisis of her family company, wondering if 20 years ago she chose the path that made me truly happy.”

In addition to that, the company announced that they were excited to contribute to the evolution of the successful novel: “We are more than excited to collaborate with our partners at Estudios RCN to bring the evolution of this universally attractive and inspiring story to customers of Prime Video worldwide.”

The truth is that the new chapters will be added to the 355 that are already available on the well-known streaming platform.

From the original cast, viewers will easily recognize Ana María Orozco (Betty), Jorge Enrique Abello (Armando), Mario Duarte (Nicolás Mora) and Natalia Ramírez (Marcela Valencia).

What do the actors say about the new series?

In a special for People en Español, part of the cast confessed how they feel a few days before the premiere of the series.

“I feel happy. This return has excited me very much. It took me by surprise, but the truth is I’m so happy. I feel that it is a very nice opportunity for me at this moment in life to meet again with this endearing character and in such a special moment, in general, for the character as well. So I am very happy with this opportunity,” said Ana María Orozco.

For his part, the remembered ‘Don Armando’ expressed: “At first I felt worried about seeing what the evolution of the character would be like in 20 years and seeing how people change, how viewers change, how roles change, but trying to maintain what we always wanted from the character. So the work of reflection was quite arduous to get there.”

He added that the work has been difficult, but nice because they had a team of professionals.

‘Ugly Betty’ premiered in 1999 and quickly became a hit. The soap opera was dubbed into more than 15 languages and broadcast in different parts of the world such as Africa, the United States and some countries in Europe.
