Shakira is in full promotion of the album Women Don’t Cry Anymore, and now he declared that he is going through a new stage in his life. Although she is not contemplating a romantic relationship, she has learned to value the unconditional friends she has much more.

The Colombian singer was interviewed by Andrea Thompson for the British edition of the magazine Marie Claire. In addition to looking spectacular in photos taken by Nicolas Gerardin, she acknowledged that now she feels stronger: “In the past I always thought I was a weak and fragile person; that she wouldn’t survive certain situations. So, Suddenly, life presented me with all these situations at the same time and I wondered if I was going to survive. But I did it. And now there are fewer things I fear.”

It was inevitable to touch on the topic of the relationship that Shakira had with Gerard Piquéand she commented that at first she thought everything would turn out very well: “Deep down I always thought that having a husband was the most important thing in my life. I was looking for that man like my dad, who I would have children with and then make plans to be with him forever, like my parents, who are still so in love. I made a lot of sacrifices for this. I was loyal. But sometimes things don’t go as planned. You keep going.”

With Piqué Shakira She had two children -Milan and Sasha-, and acknowledged that after her breakup with the former soccer player she had no idea what was coming, but she found a solution together with the children: “I always dreamed of having a family of four (people). And for a while after the breakup, I felt like I was a three-legged table. I wondered how we were going to survive, how we were going to do it. We talk a lot. We have a constant dialogue. I listen to their opinions and vice versa. We solved it.”

Many are now wondering what the future will be like. Shakira As for a partner, but she confessed to Thompson that for the moment she prefers to rely on her friends: “I can’t say that I don’t believe in love, because I see the example of my parents after 50 years together; how they look into each other’s eyes and hold hands and can’t live apart from each other. I have witnessed love, but I have not been so lucky either. Monogamy is a utopia. But I have been rewarded in other ways, with the love of my fans, my children and my true friends. Oscar Wilde He said that friendship is the purest form of love, and I believe that is true. Lasts longer, at least in my experience. My relationship lasted 12 years, but my friends will be there for a lifetime. “When difficulties came, that was when I learned how truly important friendship was.”
