Shohei Ohtani surpasses Dave Roberts in home runs for the Dodgers and gives him a special gift

Shohei Ohtani hit his eighth home run of the season, beating Dave Roberts for the Dodgers. Ohtani became the Japanese with the most home runs in the Dodgers, a title held by his manager.

Before the match, Dave Roberts revealed that Ohtani had given him a special gift for tying it. The Japanese gifted a toy Porsche to Dave Roberts, who joked that he put it in his office.

“A Japanese-born player who is about to break my Dodgers record for home runs very soon, brought a gift, a Porsche,” Roberts told reporters Saturday.

“He brought it to my office… so there is context. He bought me a car. And I guess I didn’t specify what kind of car. “So Shohei brought me a nice little Porsche, so I can’t say he never gave me anything,” he joked.

The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 11-2 at a home run party for the home team.

At Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers feasted on home runs by Shohei Ohtani, Andy Pagés and three by Max Muncy.

Shohei Ohtani circled the bases after hitting his home run and then high-fived Dave Roberts in a grand gesture. to make way for the new Japanese home run king in the Dodgers and in the MLB.

Andy Pagés has been one of the big surprises since he joined the big team. The Cuban rookie rose due to Jason Heyward’s injury and has earned his position with hits.

Pages has a .338 batting average with 22 hits, 4 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored in 16 games this season.

But the MVP of the night was Max Muncy, who hit three home runs against Atlanta’s pitching.

Muncy became the 25th player in franchise history to hit 3 or more home runs in a game. He joins Mookie Betts and Corey Seager as active players to hit three home runs for the Dodgers.

This Sunday they close a three-game series against Atlanta. On Monday they begin a series against the Miami Marlins.
