An armed group broke into a primary school in the Las Lomitas community, in the Coyuca de Benítez municipality, Guerrero, southern Mexico and in front of the students, he stripped teachers of vehicles, wallets and cell phones.

Given the events, by decision of the teachers, parents and educational authorities, in-person classes were suspended at the Juan Ruiz de Alarcón school.

Also Work was suspended in schools in the neighboring towns of Los Nopales, El Terrero and El Huamuchil, where armed men also intimidate teachers.

According to a report from the Secretary of Education in Guerrero (SEG), on April 15, around 7:30 a.m., a group of teachers was heading by road to those communities to teach classes, but the vehicle in the who were going was intercepted by armed men.

Teachers and school directors returned that same day to the municipal seat of Coyuca de Benítez to inform the SEG authorities what had happened.

The group of teachers decided to go to the towns and resume in-person classes with the slogan that if the conditions were not met they would suspend them.

When the teachers began teaching classes, about 40 armed men arrived at the Las Lomitas school and stole their vehicles, wallets and cell phones.

The teachers informed the SEG that they will teach their students virtually to avoid risks.

The SEG supported the measure since the safety of teachers, students and parents comes first.

In Chichihualco, the municipal seat of Leonardo Bravo, students from 25 basic and upper secondary schools receive classes virtually due to violence which has been recorded since August 2023 due to the struggle between two organized crime groups.

In Amojileca, a community in the municipality of Chilpancingo, schools are also closed after armed men set fire to two Urvan public transport vans on April 11 in an attack on their base located near the center of the Capital.

The transportation service from Chilpancingo to Amojileca is partial and the classes are virtual.
