California residents have not had a lawsuit for COVID booster shots – 19 as much as expected .

State health authorities have expressed concern about the low interest of Californians in receiving a third dose of immunization against the coronavirus, especially due to the proximity of the festive season.

The concern we have is high for older people and residents with compromised immune systems , who would be at higher risk of serious illness or even death if infected by SARS CoV-2 virus.

Federal health authorities recommend the application of a third booster vaccine to residents inoculated with Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna; and a second dose of Johnson & Johnson, which was initially authorized as a single dose s.

To the California Department of Public Health , the demand for booster vaccines has been considerably lower than originally expected. The health authorities expected to reach their maximum point of inoculations for the first week of October, which did not happen.

During that week of October, only applied 230, 02 injections to people older than 65 years, which represents the 21% of the projected demand of 1.1 million .

For adults under 65 years, expected to apply 2.7 million doses, but only 450, 000 dose, just the 19% of expected .

The initial demand for third doses for immunosuppressed people who had received Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines and Moderna has also been inferior to that contemplated. At the end of September only had been applied 425, 02 dose of an estimate calculated between 700, 000 and 800,000 California residents .

Low booster vaccine rates in California

Statewide dose rates are in lower numbers than expected. In San Francisco, at the end of October, only the 20% of eligible persons older than 50 years that were already fully immunized had received a third dose, while in Los Angeles County the percentage was just 27% .

Specialists have warned that the immunity offered by antigens may decrease six months after receiving the last dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, while those of Johnson & Johnson were reduced two months later.

In San Francisco, residents older than 65 years were among the first to be vaccinated almost a year ago and antigens could have drastically decreased, so urge you to get your boosters lo ant possible.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who received his second dose of Moderna vaccine in February and had not received a reinforcement, reported last week that he had been infected with COVID – 19 when I was at a climate summit in Scotland.

Another example was with former Secretary of State Colin Powel, from 84 years, who was fully immunized and had cancer. He became ill with coronavirus and could not recover.

Vaccines, effective against COVID – 19

Vaccines have proven to be highly effective, especially in reducing the risk of serious hospitalization or death.

In Los Angeles County, of 5.9 million residents who have been fully vaccinated, 1.2% subsequently tested positive for coronavirus, 0. 039% had to be hospitalized and only 0. 006% died due to illness .

Currently, the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have recommended that all people over the age of 65 years, adults of 50 years or more with underlying health conditions and adults living in long-term care facilities receive a booster dose .

They have also recommended that residents who received the Johnson & Johnson single-dose injection get a second booster dose two months after the original inoculation.

California health authorities are concerned that a fifth wave of infections may occur during this fall and winter .

Hospitalizations for COVID – 19 have stopped declining in Los Angeles, San Diego, Orange and Ventura, while Riverside and San Bernardino counties have begun to increase.
