Robinson Canó comes out in defense of Julio Urías: “I would like to see him again in the Major Leagues”

Dominican star Robinson Canó recently assured that he would like to see the pitcher again Julio Urías receive a new opportunity to return to the Major Leagues despite the fact that the Mexican is in the middle of an investigation for domestic violence.

The former big league player, who shone with the New York Yankees among other teams, is currently playing in Mexican baseball with the Red Devils and during an interview with TUDN he spoke about the situation of the former pitcher of Los Angeles Dodgers who is currently a free agent.

“It all depends on him, if he hasn’t achieved anything in the United States he should still continue playing. I like to watch him pitch, I’ve admired the way he pitched when he was with the Dodgers.”commented the Dominican who spent 17 seasons in the Major Leagues.

“Everything happens through situations, we don’t stop to analyze, we don’t know what the situation really was, what really happened, one hundred percent how it was”Robinson Canó pointed out about the accusation against the Mexican pitcher who will be tried for five minor crimes of assault on his partner.

The Dominican reiterated his wish that Julio Urías can get back on the mound to continue with his career once his situation with the justice system is resolved, which he will face next month to define the accusations against him for the events that occurred in last September.

“Yes, I would like to see him in the Major Leagues, to win games again. “We all deserve opportunities, we have to know what the situation is”highlighted the second baseman who also made reference to his experience in Mexican baseball with the Red Devils.

“I want to thank Alfredo Harp for what he has done for this city and for this league, for the simple fact of the stadium, it is motivating for players like me. In this league there is all the power and the decision to do things”commented Canó who highlighted the potential that the Aztec championship has.

“This league could be ranked as the third best league. We come at 12 noon but the hours go by quickly. There are those who play at a Major League level who later arrive and believe they are better off at home. As a foreigner, I should feel proud and thank him.”added the Dominican who also spoke about the level of Mexican baseball players, highlighting one in particular.

“I have always said in several interviews that we only have to give the Mexicans a chance, we have a player called Julián Ornelas, he is the type of player who could be in the Major Leagues”concluded the former big league player who during his career in the Major Leagues where, in addition to the Yankees, he also played with the Seattle Mariners, the New York Mets, San Diego Padres and Atlanta Braves.
