Santiago Giménez celebrates Feyenoord's most recent title in front of thousands of fans in the streets

Thousands of fans celebrated this Monday in Rotterdam the victory of the Feyenoord in the Dutch Cup, after beating NEC on Sunday thanks to a goal from Brazilian Igor Paixao assisted by Mexican Santiago Giménez.

The fans packed the central Binnenrotte esplanade since the morning, with capacity to accommodate up to 35 thousand people, to receive the players early in the afternoon with chants and scarves, according to public television NOS.

Santiago Giménez 🇲🇽 won his second title with Feyenoord 🇳🇱. In 2022/2023 he was champion of the Eredivisie and in 2023/2024 champion of the Netherlands Cup 🏆.

The captain of Feyenoord, Gernot Trauner, showed the cup in front of the crowded square from a stage where The rest of the team’s players were parading between applause and fireworks.to culminate with the performance of “You’ll never walk alone” by Dutch singer Lee Towers.

With Sunday’s 1-0 victory against NEC at the De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam, Feyenoord won its fourteenth Dutch Cup, while the Mexican Santiago Giménez won his second European title after the Eredivisie last season.

With the assist given to Paixao in the final, “El Chaquito” reached 7 assists on goal, while registering 24 goals in the season in 40 games he has played this campaign.

For the one also nicknamed “Bebote”, the title comes at a good time to use it as motivation, since he had 5 games without scoring a goal and this weekend he reached 6, but having put together the decisive play is pure oxygen for the Mexican in the midst of a wave of criticism he has received for his scoring drought, after several weeks of scoring consecutively.
