Mercado Libre is betting strongly on Mexico and announces more than 8,000 vacancies by 2025

Mercado Libre is preparing the ground to turn Mexico into the epicenter of its operations this year. The leading e-commerce company in Latin America has announced ambitious plans that involve a significant expansion in the Mexican territory, anticipating filling more than 8,000 vacancies throughout the next year.

With exponential growth in mind, Mercado Libre is in an unprecedented expansion phase, fueled by the burgeoning success of its business model. According to data provided by the company, in 2024 alone, it plans to open 8,200 new positions in various areas. This number, although impressive on its own, It represents only a part of the astronomical figure of 18,000 hires projected for the entire region, which includes countries such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia and Chile.

What is the goal of Mercado Libre?

The objective of Mercado Libre is monumental: establish a workforce that exceeds 76,000 employees by the end of 2024a testament to the impact and scale of its continued growth.

The logistics and technology areas are the main beneficiaries of this increase in hiring. Specifically, in the technological field, Mercado Libre has plans to hire 2,500 people throughout the regionwhich reflects its commitment to driving the growth and evolution of Mercado Pago, its electronic payments platform. Of the total of 18,000 new jobs, it is estimated that 14,000 will be dedicated directly to the logistics network of the company, with the majority of these positions concentrated in Mexico and Brazil, two of the most strategic markets for the company.

Although Mercado Libre has not provided specific details about the opening dates of these positions, it assures that they will be available throughout the year through its microsite dedicated to jobs. You can already find nearly 500 vacant positions in Mexico only on their recruiting website.

Among the notable job opportunities for the Mexican market are roles as shipping team leader, transfer and cash manager, specialist in credit risk models for Mercado Créditosenior planning and strategy analyst for Mercado Pago, loss prevention analyst for Mercado Envoys, among others.
