Ryan García now fails to make the weight and must pay $1.5 million to Devin Haney

Ryan Garcia bet against Devin Haney and lost. The boxer bet $500,000 for each pound he passed at the weigh-in and went 3.2 pounds.

According Michael Benson, García weighed 143.2 pounds, 3.2 more than the scheduled 140. For his part, Haney did meet the 140 mark for the fight.

Haney has said that Garcia fulfilled his bet at the press conference and will pay him $500,000. per pound of overweight (a total of $1.5 million dollars).

Devin Haney commented on the social network X and detailed that Ryan García fulfilled the bet. “Ryan honored the 500k to the pound,” Haney wrote in X.

After the failed weigh-in, the boxer began to throw words about the weigh-in and stated that “he has the advantage.”

“I feel great and have a 3 pound advantage. Come on hahahahaha Winners do what they have to do. I’m still ready,” he commented on X.

“Why would I force myself to gain weight so I can be weak? No, I’m here to win. That’s all, ”she continued posting on networks.

Benson detailed that Eddie Hearn has told reporters that Devin Haney has already ordered him to make the fight with Sandor Martin after Ryan Garcia. This because of

Martin is mandatory for his WBC super lightweight world title and he does not want to leave it vacant with the aim of becoming undisputed.

Canelo Álvarez could meet his next rival

The WBA has declared that Edgar Berlanga is now the WBA mandatory challenger to Canelo Alvarez for his undisputed world super middleweight titles.

They are creating a new ‘regular’ light heavyweight belt for David Morrell vs. Radivoje Kalajdzic in June; Morrell will vacate his ‘regular’ WBA super middleweight belt if he wins.
