Characters from all—yes, all—Pixar Animation Studios films are closer than ever to their fans at Pixar Fest, which returns to the Disneyland parks after a few years of absence.
“We include all the Pixar movies,” said Robin Trowbridge, director of shows at Disney Live Entertainment. “They are all represented at the festival.”
Trowbridge’s assertion could not be more accurate. This party, which ends August 4, features performances of all the films the iconic animation studio has produced at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks.
So it doesn’t matter where in the parks visitors walk; At any point it is possible to meet characters and discover classic moments from films such as Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., The Incredibles, Cars, Up, Coco and more recent films such as Turning Red, Luca and Soul. Even Inside Out 2, which will be released soon, is also included.
As in past editions, the creatives of this party never stop reinventing themselves, and one of the jobs they do best is adding new elements and surprises. In this version, the most striking novelty is Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!, the parade that takes place during the day on select dates through the streets of Disney California Adventure.
“There are new floats, like the one [la cinta] Turning Red,” Trowbridge said during a press conference that brought together five of the brains behind the festival, including John State, the Disneyland Resort’s culinary director of food and beverage, and Tasha Sounart, the theme park’s creative director. from the Pixar animation studios.
More than two dozen characters from Pixar films participate in this stop, parading in colorful floats adorned with details alluding to the films.
Meanwhile, the fireworks show and the screening of the show Together Forever—A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular were reinstated in Disneyland park. This nighttime show projects memorable images from all the Pixar films on the walls of Main Street, USA, and accompanies them with a medley of fragments of the songs that accompany these film productions.
On the esplanade, one of the most iconic points of the park—where there are monumental decorations, depending on the season—a giant sculpture representing the Pixar ball welcomes visitors.
At the Pixar Pals Playtime Party, held at Disneyland’s Fantasyland Theatre, guests can learn new dance moves, dance alongside Pixar characters, or watch Pixar movie shorts projected on a giant screen. .
Another new feature is the Pixar Club in the Hollywood Backlot of Disney California Adventure. Each night during the festival, a DJ plays music, there are games, performances, photo opportunities with characters from Pixar films, themed food and prepared drinks.
Food is another important element of the party, and John State, the aforementioned culinary director, knows that better than anyone. He explained that on this year’s menu there is a little bit of everything to represent each of the Pixar films.
“There are 29 locations where you can enjoy what we prepare for this occasion,” said the chef.
There are creations that have been successful in past editions and also new additions, said State, and mentioned, among others, the Fried Bologna Sandwich and the Sea monster friends parfait, the latter inspired by the film Luca.
Starting May 10, six Pixar-themed markets offering food and drink will be available at Disney California Adventure. Each one will be related to a Pixar movie.
