Coming from a fund created to deal with disasters or the recovery of citizens who are affected by them, The Cook County Board of Commissioners unanimously decided to support Chicago with $70 million, This with the aim that they are destined to feed the immigrants who do not stop arriving in said city.

And, due to the campaign orchestrated by Greg Abbott, governor of Texas, by continuing to send immigrants on buses for free to so-called sanctuary cities, in places like New York, Denver or Chicago, the shelters to receive them are insufficient, as well as the resources to feed them.

In fact, Illinois authorities estimate that, since August 2002, more than 39,000 immigrants have arrived in the state, causing a certain imbalance in several towns such as Cook County.

The objective of supporting Chicago is to prevent its economy from collapsing, but in exchange for the millionaire sum of money it will receive, its authorities will have the obligation to present periodic reports where they can see how they allocate resources.

In this regard, Commissioner Tara Stamps, who represents a sector of the African-American population residing on the West Side, announced that Every penny spent in Chicago will be corroborated, since it is intended that its entirety be directed to meeting the needs of immigrants.

It should be noted that, at the start of the year, Wynne Transportation LL, one of the Texas bus companies hired by Greg Abbott to transport immigrants from the “Lone Star” state to Chicago, filed a lawsuit against the authorities of said city under the argument that its established policies represent turning its back on undocumented immigrants.

“Instead of welcoming immigrants and offering them refuge, Chicago is turning its back on those who wish to travel here by enacting an ordinance that violates the constitutional rights of the companies hired to transport them,” part of the complaint stated.

The truth is The arrival of immigrants to the “Windy City”, far from decreasing, is beginning to increase and even though the support provided to them continues to flow, the pressure to obtain resources also increases.
