Biden: Message sent to world about power of American leadership with aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan

The White House had been asking the Legislature for months for joint approval of military aid packages in support of Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, but Republican opposition caused a long blockade.

However, Iran’s attack on Israel weeks ago caused the Republican leadership in the House of Representatives to lift its blockade on jointly approving military aid packages abroad.

In this way, the Senate made official the package of $95 billion in military aid for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, which President Joe Biden received with great euphoria.

Now all that is needed is the signature of the president, Joe Biden, for money and weapons to begin to flow into the Ukrainian trenches. who have been begging the United States for help in the face of the advance of Russian forces for months.

Through his office, the president welcomed the bipartisan support, “Tonight, a bipartisan majority in the Senate joined the House to answer the call of history at this critical turning point.”

“Congress passed my legislation to strengthen our national security and send a message to the world about the power of American leadership: we resolutely defend democracy and freedom, and against tyranny and oppression…I will sign this bill and address the American people as soon as it reaches my desk tomorrow so we can begin shipping weapons and equipment to Ukraine this week,” he insisted.

According to international agencies, Biden spoke by phone on Monday with the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who after the call and in a message on the social network long-range.

Without giving details of the type of weapons, Biden assured that “The need is urgent: for Ukraine, which faces incessant bombing by Russia; for Israel, which has just faced unprecedented attacks from Iran; for refugees and those affected by conflict and natural disasters around the world, including Gaza, Sudan and Haiti; and for our partners seeking security and stability in the Indo-Pacific.”

Finally, the president sent a message to Congress, “I want to thank Leader Schumer, Leader McConnell and all the bipartisan legislators in the Senate who voted in favor of this bill. This critical legislation will make our nation and world safer as we support our friends defending themselves against terrorists like Hamas and tyrants like Putin.”, he concluded.
