The 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will have at least two clubs from the Liga Mx and with the possibility that this increases to 3 as long as the Tuzos del Pachuca, led by the Venezuelan and striker José Salomón Rondón (goal leader of the Liga Mx and the Concachampios) manage to defeat the Colombus Crew in the final of the Concachampions Cup .

The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) made the decision to modify the format of the Club World Cup starting with the next edition and they considered adding more participating clubs, this in order to make the World Cup a much more attractive tournament for fans and that could also extend its duration, which means many more games to play.

Mexican clubs classified so far?

Each of the confederations will have several places to distribute through official competitions and also the club ranking. In the specific case of Concacaf, places will be granted to the champion clubs of the Champions Cup from 2021 to 2024, with León, Seattle and Monterrey being so far the teams that earned their ticket to the 2025 Club World Cup, waiting for the winner between Pachuca and Colombus for the last ticket to said tournament.

Monetary incentive for teams

What FIFA wants is for the teams to agree to be part of the Club World Cup And that is why, to encourage the teams to do so, they have made the decision to distribute an estimated two billion dollars, providing benefits to the participants and a significant economic income for the team that is crowned champion.

According to information that was released by social communicator David Medrano, the champion of the next edition of the Club World Cup will obtain a prize of approximately $100 million dollars, a quite striking and strong amount for the projects of each of the participating and aspiring clubs. There is already a guaranteed prize of $30 million for Liga Mx teams for having qualified for the championship, one different from the European clubs that will get $50 million for their participation in the tournament.

The Club World Cup is an international competition that is organized by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA). It is held annually and brings together the champion teams of the six continental confederations, as well as the league champion of the tournament’s host country. These confederations include UEFA (Europe), CONMEBOL (South America), CONCACAF (North America, Central America and the Caribbean), CAF (Africa), AFC (Asia) and OFC (Oceania).

The tournament, which was inaugurated in 2000, replaced the then-called Intercontinental Cup., an annual meeting between the champions of Europe and South America. Since its founding and debut in the international football arena, the Club World Cup’s purpose has been to determine the most outstanding club worldwide, providing a platform where teams from different regions can compete.

The tournament structure has constantly evolved, offering a format that includes preliminary rounds, quarterfinals, semifinals and the final where the best team in the tournament will be the champion of the event. This format has the mission of guaranteeing equal conditions and opportunities for all participating teams, regardless of the prestige or size of their confederation.
