Trump's lawyer tries to clear him of charges against him through the testimony of a former editor

During the eighth day of the trial being carried out in relation to the money that Donald Trump allegedly paid, in 2016, to Stephanie Clifford, Former porn film actress known as Stormy Daniels, the former president’s legal defense questioned David Pecker, former editor of the National Enquirer tabloid, with the aim that his testimony serves to subtract some of the 34 charges of which he is accused.

In response to the interrogation to which he was subjected, The former executive acknowledged in court that he had negotiated multiple agreements to eliminate somewhat controversial stories about celebrities such as Mark Wahlberg, Tiger Woods and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

In fact, Pecker described certain negotiations carried out with the model Karen McDougal to buy the exclusive rights to a story about an alleged year-long relationship with Donald Trump.

“Buying Karen McDougal’s life rights was going to cost $150,000.. Plus, Karen wanted to restart her career. She wanted to write for celebrity magazines. She wanted to be on the cover of life and fitness titles. “She had a major problem when she had her breast implants removed and she wanted to write about it,” he stressed.

The former editor even mentioned that Attorney Michael Cohenwho was allegedly the one who gave $130,000 to Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about her affair with Donald Trump, He was also the one who authorized the start of negotiations to sell Karen McDougal’s story.

About, Lawyer Emil Bove focused on trying to demonstrate to the jury that agreements to obtain secret money were a normal practice and recurring on National Enquirer.

After a break in the trial to go to lunch, David Pecker was questioned for the second time and this time he claimed to have expressed to Michael Cohen his desire not to be involved in the Stormy Daniels story, this for commercial and reputational reasons.

“I told Michael Cohen that after paying for the doorman story and the Karen McDougal story I wasn’t going to pay anything else and it wasn’t a bank. “I told (editor) Dylan Howard that there was no possible way I could buy the story for $120,000 dollars and that I didn’t want anything to do with a porn star,” he claimed.
