He Women’s Football has advanced by leaps and bounds in Mexican football. The Liga MX Femenil is a very well organized tournament and with appropriate coverage. However, there are still things to polish. One of them is the treatment towards the players. An example of this is the case of Ana Campa, a Club León player who felt rejected by her team after suffering an injury.

The player herself reported her case through social networks. Ana Campa explained that in September 2023 she received a strong blow to her face. The player had to be treated. Campa lost a percentage of his vision and was treated in the United States and Mexico, but Club León would have done little or nothing after the incident.

“A ball hit me very hard in the face and greatly affected my vision. Unfortunately, my club has not given me the support I expected, I did not receive immediate attention nor did they care to address my vision loss in the weeks that followed. (…) I searched on my own for a specialist and therapies in Mexico and the United States (…)When consulting with specialists, they told me that My disability is permanent, that is, I will not be able to play soccer again.”La Campa said.

‼️Hello everyone, I want to share with you the process that I have gone through here in my club, León, and why you have not seen me active with the team!! ️ pic.twitter.com/uiv9MhFgZC

Given this scenario, the young 25-year-old player began to process her inability to play. This procedure was developed with the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). But Ana Campa has found herself alone in this difficult step in her career.

“I returned to Mexico, a month ago I started the procedures with the IMSS for my disability, as the club board told me, but no one from the club staff has accompanied me and helped to know well what I have to do, They haven’t asked me either, even if it’s how I feel or if I need something.”he added.

However, Ana Campa complained about the slowness of the process. In his personal account he recounted his desire to return home to the United States. But he must still wait for his inability to become effective. “More than seven months after my injury, I’m tired and desperate, I have not taken therapies nor have I had the necessary attention to rehabilitate my eyes, I want to go back home to my family in Texas, but it looks like this is going to take a long time.”, he concluded.

The León Club responded

The Mexican team had to offer its part of the story. Through social networks, Club León assured that it will remain aware of the situation. But in the statement they made it clear that the wait in the development of the procedure is due to protocols that correspond only to the aforementioned institutions.

“The IMSS is the only institution that can determine the degree of disability of our player: We are waiting for a resolution. Our internal protocols and those of the Mexican Soccer Federation require us to document and report to the corresponding organization each of the processes in this type of injury. Club León will continue to comply with its labor, administrative and medical obligations, until receiving the official opinion from the IMSS.”, responded the Guanajuato team.
