At 22 years of age he was forced to leave the first of his greatest loves, football., after a series of injuries made it difficult for him to reach the maximum of his potential and conditions with which he projected himself. Kevin Lidin, however, claims to have achieved complete happiness away from a playing field and the key to this was a more than radical and impressive change in his personal life.

The Swede became a yoga instructor in Ko Pha-ngan, a paradisiacal island located in southeastern Thailand. His story has become very viral and recognized throughout the world and especially on social networks, much more so when the now Buddhist monk usually makes publications with messages in which he explains his motives and reasons for having made the decision to put aside football since he understands that today he is a better person.

Who is Kevin Lidin?

He was born on March 4, 1999 in Lund, and came to the world of Italian football when he was only 18 years old. where he was spotted by Bologna, who immediately, realizing his great talent and projection, incorporated him into their team in the Under 19 category. There he would stand out at a very good level in the midfielder position. He had the opportunity to play for other promotion clubs on the peninsula such as Paganese and Pisa and with the latter he managed to win the Serie C championship in 2019.

Dark times have arrived for young Lidin

However, when everything seemed rosy and the future only held great things for him On the playing field, his dream of one day playing in Serie A was interrupted by constant injuries that played tricks on him, and the COVID-19 pandemic added to this and he was forced to hang up his hat. boots for the year 2021, a decision that was not easy for the young player, who at that time decided to set out to ‘seek his happiness’.

He traveled to Thailand and that was where he found the peace and tranquility he was looking for: “In 2021 my professional football career ended due to injuries. I began to wonder what happiness is and what the purpose of life is,” Lidin admitted in 2023.

The young man completely abandoned the consumption of alcoholic beverages and the consumption of social media or unhealthy foods in what he considered was the search for ‘true happiness’.

Philosophy of life that changed him

“Most people will never know what the purpose of life is; those who do”They often believe that being financially free or famous will make them happy,” said the former player on his Instagram account, on which he has almost 13,000 followers.

“After studying the science of happiness, becoming a monk and practicing yoga, I found the answer to what happiness is. I learned how to get it and how to keep it,” she revealed.

Lidin believes that in life one should learn to give without expecting to receive anything in return.: “The monks receive food and in exchange they are given a blessing or a teaching. Without this, the monks have no food. Receiving food from people who live a very simple life was difficult. Many Westerners do not practice donation. Because they think that happiness is money and material things. And giving it away would be the same as giving away happiness. That’s why we cling to things, we always want more and we don’t think about others.”

“Until I became a monk, I didn’t really understand the importance of giving to other people. When you give to someone, and it comes from your heart (not being forced) and the recipient accepts the gift and appreciates it. Happiness is experienced for both,” she adds.

“You are the only one responsible for your own happiness. There is no more important relationship than the one you have with yourself. Don’t blame others for your own reactions. Anger, despair and frustration never come from outside.”
