Authorities find new body after accident on the Baltimore bridge

After the tragedy of the collapse of the Baltimore bridge, where six workers of Latin American origin died, On Monday afternoon, US authorities reported the discovery of a new body of the victims of the accident.

The FBI opens a criminal investigation into the accident that brought down the bridge in Baltimore

The news of this discovery comes after The FBI announced that it opened a criminal investigation for what happened.

According to ABC News sources, the investigations will try to determine, andAmong other points, if the crew left the port with knowledge that something was wrong with the ship.

The investigation after considering that the crew members were aware that the ship was suffering from mechanical problems and still started the work.

What happened?

The container ship Dali, 300 meters long and flying the Singapore flag, left the port of Baltimore bound for Sri Lanka in the early hours of March 26, when it collided with one of the pillars in the central segment of the bridge over the Patapsco River and hit the Francis Scott Key Bridge, collapsing it and generating a power blackout.

Before the impact, the ship issued an alert, which allowed authorities to cut off traffic on the bridge, through which some 30,000 vehicles crossed every day, and avoid a major tragedy.

Six workers performing maintenance on the bridge died in the collapse and for now, crews have recovered. the bodies of Maynor Yasir Suazo-Sandoval, 35, Alejandro Hernández Fuentes, 35, Dorlian Castillo Cabrera, 26, and another unidentified man.

“Our hearts continue to break for the loved ones of these victims,” said Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott. “Our entire city remains with them, joining them in mourning and healing, now that one of their loved ones has returned home. For those still waiting, we join you in your hope and grief that you will soon have the same closure. As I have said from the beginning, we will continue to do everything in our power to support these families and provide them with everything they need to persevere through this unthinkable tragedy.”
