“Let It Be”the 1970 documentary that shows the British group the Beatles in his recording sessions for what was his last album, has been restored by the director’s team Peter Jacksonand will be available (as a re-release) on Disney+ starting May 4.

The film directed by Michael Lindsay-Hogg It was released in VHS and Laserdisc formats more than 30 years ago, but now the image and sound have been improved for a more spectacular effect. Many scenes deleted from “Let It Be” were used by Jackson for the documentary series “The Beatles: Get Back”which in 2021 was a success on that same platform streaming.

It’s a statement Peter Jackson commented that the work he did three years ago and that of Hogg are complementary: “I am absolutely thrilled that Michael’s film, “Let It Be”has been restored and is finally being re-released after being unavailable for decades…I always thought “Let It Be” was necessary to complete the story of “Get Back”. I now think of all of this as an epic story, finally completed after five decades. Michael Lindsay-Hogg was unfailingly helpful and kind when I did “Get Back,” and It’s only fair that his original film has the last word…it looks and sounds much better than it did in 1970.”

The company Park Road Post Production He improved the original 16 millimeter negative and remastered the sound. Until now, neither of the two members of the Beatles who still live –Ringo Starr and Paul MCCARTNEY– have given their opinion on this restored version.

“Let It Be” was originally released in theaters in May 1970.; Some of the songs featured in the film are “Don’t Let Me Down”, “Oh! “Darling”, “Get Back” and “The Long And Winding Road”. The next year the Beatles they won the prize Oscar in the Best Original Score category for his work on the film.
