New $1 million supercar was washed away by Hurricane Ian in Florida

A Florida man revealed that his newly purchased $1 million McLaren P1 supercar was swept away during Hurricane Ian, with only 300 miles on flooded odometer.

The luxury car enthusiast by the name of Ernie posted a series of images on his Instagram account, showing the bright yellow vehicle being washed away in his flooded Naples neighborhood.

“The car went through the garage”, he wrote in the caption.

In a previous post, you shared a photo of the plug-in hybrid car with swing doors open and items stored in the small cargo space under the hood.

“My hurricane supply cart,” wrote Ernie.

“I definitely love it drive it in race mode”, he wrote in a publication that showed the elegant vehicle parked in front of a luxury house.

In another post, he showed his McLaren parked next to a white Rolls-Royce inside the garage.

“The car went through the garage”, he wrote after the supercar was seen parked next to a Rolls-Royce in the middle of a flood in Naples, Florida.

More than 3,800 people commented on the image of the submerged car.

“ I’m so sorry, that’s heartbreaking,” one user wrote.

“Stay safe, cars are replaceable,” said another sympathetically.

“I work for the insurance”, pointed out a third party.

Other users made fun of the owner of the car for the posts of its numerous luxury cars destroyed. Many pointed to a post Ernie had uploaded to Instagram on Tuesday showing the McLaren P1 filled with groceries for the storm.

“My hurricane supply cart,” he wrote.

“This one didn’t age well”, joked one commenter.

“Now it’s the car of hurricanes”, added another.

One user mockingly asked Ernie “How’s that going?”, while another tagged the image as one of the “09 best photos taken moments before the disaster”.

Ernie also shared an image of his blue Lamborghini completely upside down near his McLaren.

Lamborghini wheels, prices start at $200,09 dollars, were wrapped in weeds. All of its contents, such as fast food containers, had spilled onto the headliner of the car.

His caption on the post showing his overturned car was just “wow”.

Ernie also posted videos on his Instagram stories showing his upscale neighborhood being devastated as well as his vehicles being flooded.

On his website, McLaren describes the P1 as “a stunning piece of automotive design, but you won’t find any unnecessary frills or styling features frivolous in it. Every surface has been designed to perform, every part given the same aerodynamic consideration as if it were part of a plane or a Formula 1 car.”

The twin-turbocharged V8 engine produces a top speed of 217 mph on dry land.
