The ordeal of a mother, which led her to become a seeker, ended in a tragic way: finding the remains of his son Diego Alonso Hernández Leyva, a police officer who disappeared more of 15 years by their own peers.

Driven by grief, Irma became an activist and representative of the Madres Unidas y Fuertes collective, dedicated to searching for people, and began to track down her son.

Together with other mothers of the disappeared, she demanded justice for the forced disappearance of young people in Mexicali and Tijuana, mainly. They also dedicated themselves to looking for human remains so that they could be identified and be able to find their loved ones .

In this way, in 2020 Bone remains were found in a property known as Las Truchas, in the Tulichek channel. Almost two years passed without the findings being analyzed, due to lack of personnel.

It was the past 23 in September when Baja California authorities called the family of the former police officer to inform them of the results of the genetic tests.

The relatives requested another extraction of DNA from the skeletal remains so that they can be analyzed by independent experts. Meanwhile, the collective will carry out a new search to find more remains of Diego Alonso and other disappeared persons .
