Hispanic trafficker ordered an Uber to deliver fentanyl across state lines

A Massachusetts man ordered an Uber to take him across state lines to deliver fentanyl before authorities prevented his possible delivery, as reported by federal prosecutors.

Johan Rodriguez, aged 37 allegedly used the ride-sharing service to travel from Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Dover, New Hampshire, according to the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire.

Rodriguez is accused of attempting to deliver ten kilograms of the deadly drug to a Lawrence-based narcotics supplier, prosecutors said.

The trip between the two New England cities takes about an hour and is about 37 miles away.

Rodríguez took an Uber to the house in New Hampshire I will go on Tuesday before allegedly taking a toolbox and a bag of utensils from the trunk of the vehicle.

The police later intercepted him while he was walking toward the door, prosecutors said. When authorities searched the toolbox, they seized ten kilos of fentanyl that was packaged in individual packages, the US Attorney’s Office said.

Rodríguez faces one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute fentanyl, said U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young.
