The retail chain Sam’s Club is already implementing scanning doors in at least 120 locations to verify shopping carts, this in order to avoid running into long lines when trying to leave the establishment, since there will not be an employee to verify your invoice.

According to the retailer’s statement, this change is expected to extend to approximately 600 stores before the end of this year. “This is the best thing about Sam’s Club: listen to member feedback, put their needs at the center of everything we do, and then implement innovations digital to offer an industry-leading experience,” said Chris Nicholas, CEO of Sam’s Club about this new modality.

Sam’s Club customers will pass under a large blue door that has an application developed with artificial intelligence and computer vision, allowing purchases to be scanned with cameras and sensors that image the individual items within the cart in real time.

According to Nicholas at Sam’s Club “We are constantly looking for ways to make it the most convenient membership location and will continue to prioritize the use of technology to provide a truly differentiated and pleasant experience to our members,” he highlighted.

The comments from buyers regarding this new system that provides a much easier and faster exit from the retailer are positive, since many of the complaints that the chain received were precisely the waiting times to leave especially during peak hours.
