A Chicago woman was convicted of killing and dismembering the body of her landlord at a property in West Rogers Park in 2022.

Sandra Kolalou was convicted of felony first-degree murder and concealing the death of Frances Walker69 years old.

The murder occurred in a boarding house with five tenants at 5919 Washtenaw Avenue. Prosecutors say that in October 2022, Kolalou brutally murdered and dismembered Walker out of anger after trying to evict her from the boarding house.

This occurred two days after Walker received complaints from other tenants about Kolalou.

Police reports consulted by CBS News indicate that the attacker responded to text messages on Walker’s cell phone, giving the impression that the victim was still alive.

Despite this, the tenants called the police after hearing screams and seeing Kolalou leaving the property with some suspicious bags, which he later threw in Foster Beach.

Body parts found in the freezer

Authorities investigated the situation three times and left, but upon executing a search warrant at the Washtenaw Avenue home, they found Walker’s head, dismembered arms and legs in the freezer in the first-floor kitchen.

Based on preliminary evidence, detectives believe Walker was murdered in her bedroom and dismembered on the first floor of the residence.

“Society will be a little safer without this person,” said the victim’s brother, Arnold Walker, adding that Kolalou never expressed any remorse nor did he admit to having murdered his sister.

“Justice has been served and Fran will not return to us no matter what, but at least we can finally begin our healing,” added Walker’s sister-in-law, Maria Maggie Walker.

Kolalou will be sentenced on June 20.
