Woman dies after lynching for kidnapping and murder of 8-year-old girl in southern Mexico

The kidnapping and subsequent murder of an 8-year-old girl in the city of Taxco de Alarcón, state of Guerrero, southern Mexico, provoked protests from the population and a lynching this Thursday which led to the death of a woman, beaten along with two men, for being identified as the alleged perpetrators.

The last time the girl Camila Gómez Ortega, 8, was seen on Wednesday afternoon, when she left her house to go to a friend’s house to play. Hours later his The family received extortion calls demanding about 15,000 to free her.

This Thursday morning it was reported that in the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) of Iguala, there was the body of a minor with the characteristics of Camila, found during the early morning in a black bag, on the federal highway that connects with the neighboring state of Morelos.

At dawn, the man who appears in the video was arrested and after the identity of the minor was confirmed, a group of relatives went to the indicated house where they remained waiting for the authorities to arrest the woman.

Hours later, The inaction of the authorities caused people to act on their own, under the eyes of agents of the Municipal Police, National Guard and Mexican Army.

The angry neighbors took a woman and two men out of the house who were initially detained by municipal police who intended to take them to the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), however the protesters took them out of the patrol cars and beat them with fists and kicks.

They were then transferred by municipal police to the Public Ministry, where the woman’s death was later reported, while one of the men remains in serious condition in a hospital.

Until this Thursday afternoon, the Attorney General’s Office of the State of Guerrero has not issued information in this regard.

This Holy Thursday in Taxco de Alarcón the Procession of Los Cristos takes place, one of the longest and internationally knownin which more than 60 Christs from neighborhoods and colonies of that municipality, which is full of tourists, participate.

The Bermeja neighborhood reported that in light of the events, the Christ will not come out and will only remain exposed for prayers. He also called on all of Taxco to join.
