In accordance with the processes of the United States Congress, the Senate will advance with the impeachment trial of the Secretary of Public Security, Alejandro Mayorkas.

“After the House impeachment managers present the articles of impeachment to the Senate, senators will be sworn in as jurors,” said a source in the office of Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (New York). “The trial will be held the next day and will be presided over by the president pro tempore of the Senate, Patty Murray.”

Murray is a Democratic senator from Washington state.

Because the Senate is controlled by Democrats, it is possible that the process against Secretary Mayorkas will not have the conclusion that Republicans in the House of Representatives seek.

These are two accusations that the official from President Joe Biden’s government faces: not applying security and immigration regulations at the border, in addition to allegedly having lied to Congress and the Americans about his work on the border.

The Senate’s response occurs after the majority leader in the House of Representatives, Republican Mike Johnson (Lousiana), reported that on April 10 he will formally hand over the accusations, so the process would begin on April 11.

“We urge you to schedule trial in this matter quickly,” the letter to Schumer says.
