What started as part of the celebrations for the 291 anniversary of the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, ended as a tribute to drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, who is locked up in a prison in the United States.
It all happened after the government local, in collaboration with businessmen from the region, organized a series of concerts under the name “8 Music Fest”, where groups of various musical genres were presented.
With this event, the municipality intended to give the image that Culiacán is not only a region where the culture of drug trafficking abounds
, since several drug lords are from the area.
However, everything changed when it was the turn of Featherweight, a music singer Mexican regional and, above all, narcocorridos. And it is that the artist decided to project on the screens of the stage, the face of the former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel while making his presentation.
A Through his social networks, the corrido singer shared part of the presentation with which the Culiacán celebrations closed.
The images went viral and provoked the rejection of several users , who accused the local government to promote drug culture by sponsoring a show in honor of Chapo Guzmán.
About this fact, the Culiacán authorities issued a statement in which they condemned what happened , describing the show as an apology for crime and a contrary act to the image that the local government seeks to give.
“It goes totally against the principles and values that have been promoted by the municipality principle through citizen awareness campaigns and different events”, states the document.
