Life-threatening chemical spill prompts mass evacuation in Alabama

Trailer truck carrying some type of hazardous material overturned at a major intersection in Rainsville, Alabama this Thursday afternoon.

The Dekalb County Emergency Management Agency has recommended that people stay at 1,000 feet away from the accident site.

According to the WAAY TV portal, the truck of 18 wheels tipped over on one side. In the images you can see the emergency services around, while they throw water around the spill area.

According to reports, truck overturned while attempting to maneuver around a construction site and is the only vehicle involved in the accident.

The driver was not injured.

Both the highway 35 as the 75 remain completely closed indefinitely.

The busy intersection is home to several businesses, including McDonald’s, Dollar Tree, Pizza Hut, Burger King, Cricket Wireless, and several gas stations.
