Ángel Vega laughs when he hears that in Culiacán, Mexico, one finds a Sinaloa band under every rock. But his group, he says, has its own thing.

“We are pure joy and pure fun in our shows,” said Ángel, one of the group’s two vocalists; the other is Edgar Sandoval. “We were formalizing it; We are also very dynamic, and that is why we have connected with the public.”

But not only that. The group has made a fusion of Sinaloa band and the northern sound by adding the accordion to their proposal.

“But it also has a lot to do with how you play and how you perform on stage,” he said.

The band has already been around for nine years, and is now promoting “Niña sin amor”, a song that Luis Antonio López – better known as Mimoso – not only wrote, but also participates in.

A few weeks ago they released the EP “Cumbias pa pistear en Semana Santa”, and in a few months they will release another album that has collaborations with Grupo Arriesgado, Grupo Clasificado, Javier Rosas and others.

At the same time they carry out the tour “We come for what belongs to us”, which will tour places in the United States and Mexico; will conclude in December.

With this impulse they hope to solidify their career, which began on social networks and which they now want to promote in commercial radio. Almost all the members are the same as when Renovación was founded, and that stability is due to the fact that “we all share the same dreams.”

In their shows they will perform a little bit of everything, because they believe that this versatility is what has made them gain fans. They will not leave aside their narcocorridos because with that they made themselves known, Ángel said.

“We continue recording them as long as they don’t affect anyone,” he said. “But we also have themes of romance, heartbreak, cumbias and for hurting people.”

Ángel, for his part, is a 28-year-old boy who left his mechatronics career to dedicate himself to the band. The example was set by his father, who sang karaoke at family parties. Ángel began to fall in love with music and when he reached high school he already knew that he wanted to sing professionally.

“I did what my heart led me to do,” he said.
