South America is the region with the worst records in this covid pandemic – 19 in the world, with the deadliest waves and the highest accumulated deaths from this disease of the planet.
Since the deaths of patients with covid began to be registered – 19, in South America there were 2. 740 deaths per million inhabitants, according to the Our World in Data database. In the United States there were 2. 450; in Europe, 2. 000; and in Asia, 267.
The maximum number of daily deaths throughout this pandemic also occurred in South America, with an average of 10, 85 per million inhabitants in April of this year.
However, the subcontinent ends on 2021 with an auspicious data: it is the one with the highest vaccination against the coronavirus, with 63, 4% of its population completely inoculated (one or two dose, as appropriate to each drug) and 74, 3% of its 434 million people with at least one dose, according to official figures published by the Pan American Health Organization as of Thursday 23.
Also, since 17 to the 23 December had a daily average of 0.7 deaths per million inhabitants, six times less than Europe or the United States, according to Our World in Data.
Europe is the second region with the most fully vaccinated, with 60, 5%, while an additional 4.2% of the population is partially inoculated.

North America ranks third, with 59, 6% of 500 million inhabitants of Mexico, the United States and Canada with the complete process , with at least one dose were 71, 4% until Thursday 23 December.
The Caribbean registers a 43% complete vaccination and 49% with at least one dose, and Central America 42% Y 54%, respectively.
The American continent as a whole had 59, 7% of vaccinated with two doses (or single doses ), 70, 8% with at least one dose and 10, 6% with booster doses.
Oceania has the 58% of its population inoculated with two doses and Asia with the 55%. Last is Africa, with just 8.8% of its inhabitants with the complete immunization process.
The best of the best
The country with the best vaccination level in South America is Chile, where the 85 , 6% of its inhabitants received the complete guideline . There, children from 3 years old can receive the injections.
Uruguay is followed (76, 6%), Argentina (74, 5%), Ecuador (69, 1%) and Brazil (65, 7%).
In worse condition come Guyana, Bolivia and Suriname, below the 40%.
Third doses
Although two countries in South America -Chile and Uruguay- register high levels of vaccination with doses of reinforcement (52, 7% and 42, 7%, respectively), the average for the subcontinent is considerably lower (8.8%).
Europe is the continent with the highest number of booster doses applied (21, 5%) .
In North America, the 13, 4% of the population received the booster dose.
Oceania (5%) and Asia (4%) are the regions where fewer third doses have been administered, except Africa, where the application of third doses has been marginal.
