Employees go on three-day strike at fast food restaurant in South Gate
A dozen unionized Panera Bread employees in the city of South Gate went on strike for three days after reporting instances of violations of their rights to the California Department of Industrial Relations (Cal/OSHA). “Workers are being forced to work sick, their hours are being cut, even though they are short-staffed. That creates a situation of insecurity for them,” said María Maldonado, state director of the California Fast Food Workers Union, which represents about 50,000 workers in the state.
