TEXAS – A few weeks ago Texas Governor Greg Abbott criticized the facilities of the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio and pointed out that they were not in a condition to house migrant minors.

This Tuesday the authorities announced that several minors managed to escape from the place.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) reported that three migrant minors who were housed in the temporary shelter left without permission and have not been located .

The escape of the three minors occurred this 07 of April and have not been recovered since, according to a press release released Tuesday.

HHS noted that it does not operate detention centers or use methods force against migrant minors under the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement, which is why some leave the shelters without permission.

It should be noted that it notifies the corresponding authorities when a minor leaves the place without permission and if the minors are found, they are generally transferred to another shelter.

“These incidents have been reviewed and improvements have been made to ensure the safety of children at the Emergency Admission Site from San Antonio, ”the statement concluded.

Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff assured that about 1, 802 minors are housed in the temporary shelter at the Freeman Coliseum, while 129 have already been reunited with a relative, others 24 came of age and were released, and 14 more have been transferred to some other facility.
