The man who shot a gendarme in the leg with the weapon last Wednesday at Sanguinet ( Landes

) was indicted and imprisoned on Friday, we learned from the Mont-de-Marsan prosecutor’s office. This 20-year-old individual was remanded in custody in Mont-de-Marsan after the opening of a judicial investigation for “attempted murder and violence against a person holding public authority”

He is suspected of having seized the ‘service weapon of a gendarme during a clinch and having shot him in the leg, after having previously refused to be checked and tried to escape, Tuesday at midday. The gendarmes had been asked by a relative of this young man to find him.

The wounded gendarme, based in Parentis-en-Born (Landes), was hit in the thigh but left the hospital in Arcachon (Gironde) where he had been admitted Tuesday without his life being in danger.
