WASHINGTON – More than 800 chiefs of local police forces in 39 states indicated to President Joe Biden their “deep concern” about government policies that, according to them, encourage “mass illegal immigration.”

“The bosses The United States Police Department is deeply concerned about the dangerous impact of your government’s border policies, ”said police chiefs in a public letter sent to Biden .

“We urge you to change course and help us protect our communities by establishing control of the southern border,” they added. “The crisis at the border is penetrating our neighborhoods throughout the interior of the country.”

Biden has continued the policy of his predecessor , Donald Trump, by which illegal immigrants who arrive at the border are expelled, with the exception of minors who are admitted and placed in government custody waiting to locate their families.

The number of Migrants, mostly from Central America, arriving at the southern US border has been increasing month-on-month since May last year, and surpassed the mark , people in February.

“As this situation continues to evolve, more families will be exposed these to violence associated with drug trafficking and transnational gangs ”, .

The flow of illegal drugs from Mexico to the United States continued to increase during the presidency of Donald Trump (2017 – 2021), with an increment of 63% in cocaine, heroin, methamphetamines and fentanyl confiscated in the fiscal period 2018 compared to 2014.

According to Customs and Border Protection (CBP), 85 % of the Drugs smuggled in through the southern border pass through the official ports of entry into the country , hidden in vehicles and not carried by migrants who cross other places.

Police chiefs added that Biden and his Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, “are fully aware of what immigration does to our citizens, legal residents, and communities.”

They also demanded that Biden “resume construction of the border wall and adopt the sensible border policies of the previous government.”
