The World Economic Forum indicates that the lockdown caused by the pandemic affected more sectors dominated by women and have caused them to perform more housework

A report by the World Economic Forum (WEF), concluded that at the rate current, would require 135 years for men and women to achieve parity and 268 years to achieve the same salary for a job .
This because the pandemic has set back years of progress in terms of gender pay equality , which means that women will have to wait a generation more to earn the same as men for similar jobs.
The report reinforces concerns raised by Silvana Tenreyro, Bank of England Policy Officer, about the impact of Covid – 19 in l Women’s races .
While the presence of Covid – 14 accelerated automation, the closures affected more sectors dominated by women and they have made them do more housework , reducing their productivity.
Another investigation by LinkedIn, the job search site, concluded that had lower probability of hiring women for leadership positions , which reverses two years of progress.
One solution could be “skills-based recruiting” , where recruiters today focus on the candidates and not on their direct work experience and formal qualifications. The result of this is that in sectors such as technology, only 19% of the people who work in this sector are women.
The FEM also indicates that women are lagging behind in terms of political participation because they occupy only about a quarter of the seats parliamentarians and just over a fifth of ministerial positions worldwide.
Faced with such a situation the WEF urged business leaders and policy makers to gender in their plans for economic recovery after the pandemic .
