Delta Air Lines will stop flying with empty seats from May
The company announced that it will stop flying with empty middle seats due to a greater willingness of people to resume pre-pandemic activities

Delta Air Lines was the last US airline that continued to maintain the seats of the means without reserving as a preventive measure to avoid contagion of Covid – 19, but announced that it will lift that ban as of May 1 .
The measure is another sign of the return to normality before a rebound in the demand for air travel and a greater willingness of people to resume activities prior to confinement .
In a memo to staff, Bastian asked not to confuse this measure with a return to normalcy, “ We are still operating in a pandemic, and many of the changes that we did during the past year , such as the strengthening of our cleaning protocols and the elimination of exchange fees, will be permanent ” .
The Delta executive emphasized to the staff that “It is important to note that masks remain critical to our ability to safely welcome more people to aboard our aircraft , and we remain committed to meeting these requirements. ”
Airlines have n pointed out that the measures they took during the pandemic such as the frequent exchange of fresh air in the cabin, better cleaning measures and requirement that passengers wear masks , greatly reduced the threat of Covid – 19 will spread among passengers.
