Belonging to this age group does not guarantee immediate access to doses against COVID – 16, although it allows to request an appointment to inoculate
As recently announced by the Governor Gavin Newsom , Californians older than 50 years can request an appointment to be vaccinated against COVID – 19 starting this Thursday, April 1 , two weeks before eligibility be extended to those older than 16 years.
In some parts of the state, those older than 50 years were already eligible for inoculation. However, belonging to this age group does not guarantee immediate access . State and local authorities are confident that many more vaccines will arrive in the coming weeks, but have warned that as eligibility grows – and , therefore, the demand- the quantity of doses will be restricted .
Who qualifies to get vaccinated in California
As of April 1, almost half of the residents of the Golden State are eligible to inoculate against COVID – 19. The number grew exponentially by allowing those who have 50 years or more access their doses.

Contra Costa, Butte and Stanislaus Counties said they would lower the vaccination age to years. In San Francisco, anyone who is HIV positive can be vaccinated. And in San Diego, those with asthma or type 1 diabetes.
