The NFL’s Christmas Day doubleheader, which included four teams already qualified for the playoffs, was supposed to be spectacular in the Netflix debut bringing NFL games to the public live.
It wasn’t like that. The two games lacked great emotions, with Patrick Mahomes leading the Kansas City Chiefs to a comfortable victory over the Steelers in Pittsburgh (29-10) and the Baltimore Ravens crushing the Texans in Houston (31-2).
But anyway, the streaming giant’s debut was considered a success. No major problems were reported in the distribution of the matches on Netflix in the United States and worldwide, and fans were able to enjoy a long Super Bowl-type show by star Beyoncé, who performed at halftime of the game in Houston.
The winner of 32 Grammy Awards began her act titled “Cowboy Carter” (the name of her latest album) riding a white horse. Beyoncé then appeared on the NRG Stadium court and featured collaborations with several artists in her 13-minute country show.which was very colorful. In the end, she rose high on a platform.
Mahomes and Kelce celebrate a historic victory with “Santa Claus”
The Kansas City Chiefs have dedicated themselves all year to winning very close games, including some in which they really had a lot of luck. But this Wednesday in Pittsburgh they looked dominant.
Patrick Mahomes threw for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns and the Kansas City defense sacked Russell Wilson 5 times during the 29-10 victory that The reigning NFL champions secured the No. 1 seed in the American Conference (AFC). The path to the Super Bowl in the AFC will have to be through Arrowhead Stadium.
It will be an extremely difficult task to eliminate the Chiefs (15-1), who have set a new franchise record for wins in a season.
One of Mahomes’ touchdown passes was to Travis Kelce, who reached 77 in his career to break the franchise record he shared with Tony Gonzalez. Kelce, who this time did not have the presence of his girlfriend Taylor Swift in the stadium, also reached 1,000 receptions in the NFL, only the third tight end to do so.
After the game, Mahomes and Kelce received Santa Claus-type suits from Netflix that they showed off in an interview. But the most fun came when they went to the locker room, where legendary head coach Andy Reid, dressed completely as Santa Claus, made a surprise appearance to lead to a euphoric celebration.
Lamar Jackson “runs” into the record book in Ravens’ rout
In the second game of the day, the Baltimore Ravens showed their power and overcame a depressed Houston Texans in their own stadium by 31-2. The game lost all interest from the beginning of the fourth quarter when Lamar Jackson scored on a 48-yard run to shape the blowout. At no point did Houston feel competitive.
Jackson, the reigning NFL MVP, finished the game with 87 rushing yards to become the quarterback with the most rushing yards in NFL history with 6,110leaving behind Michael Vick’s record (6,109).
Jackson also threw 2 touchdown passes and Derrick Henry had 147 rushing yards and 1 TD. Houston’s (9-7) only points came from its defense, tackling Henry inside its end zone for a safety in the second quarter.
Baltimore (11-5) now controls its destiny in the AFC North Division and will clinch the crown with a victory in the final week of the season or if Pittsburgh (10-6) loses its final game.
Week 17 of the season continues Thursday when Seattle visits Chicago. Then there will be three games on Saturday, nine on Sunday and one on Monday.
