Efrain Juarez has just achieved a historic achievement like the first Mexican coach to achieve the double in Colombiain addition to being the third coach to obtain it.

Last Sunday he won with National Athletic the league final and days before he did the same in the Cup final, so in just four months in charge of the “Verdolagas” he established himself as technical director.

Given this fact, Miguel Herrera, who directed it between 2012 and 2013 when the double monarch in Colombia played for América and they were champions together, accepted that he did not see potential in him as a coach, perhaps as a manager yes, but not on the bench; Despite this, he said he was happy for him.

“Honestly, I didn’t see any skills in him as a technician. If the guy looks very prepared, he seems very enthusiastic, maybeI saw him as having the talent to be a manager, but hey, I’m very happy that Efra achieves the achievements he has.“, assured the “Piojo” on Fox Sports, where he collaborates as an analyst.

Herrera described it as “very successful” and also highlighted his team, since he is aware that no coach is a champion if he does not have the talent and collective effort of all the members.

“I really don’t know what virtues I can see in Efra, the truth is I haven’t seen him work much, but from a distance you can see that he has a good group, It seems that he has a good relationship with the boys, his team has a good idea of the game, We will have to wait one more tournament to see how his style and idea are defined. Today, very successful”.

Now Efraín Juárez is facing a greater challenge, since obtained a place in the 2025 Copa Libertadores for Atlético Nacional, thus breaking a drought of Aztec coaches in the tournament, since the last one who participated in the Conmebol tournament was Guillermo Vázquez, with Pumas in 2016, when they were eliminated in the quarterfinals after losing on penalties against Independiente del Valle de Ecuador.
