The mega company tesla announced the withdrawal of 694,304 units of vehicles from its lines Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruckfor a failed related to pressure monitoring system tires (TPMS).
Following the announcement of the company, owned by Elon Muskthe agency Reuters disclosed, through a consultation with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSAfor its acronym in English), the problem is that the warning light for the fuel pressure system tires does not alert optimally.
The tire pressure system warning light may not remain illuminated between driving cycles, which could fail to alert the driver of low tire pressure.
What consequences can this failure have on drivers?
According to the NHTSAthe lack of this type of warning in the tire system can cause the driver to drive with low tire pressure.
Given this, and according to the same Administration, this may cause accidents.
Following the announcement of the recall of the vehicles, tesla revealed that a software update remote in order to eliminate the physical option to fix this problem.
To do this, the same company will issue a notification to the affected owners, starting on February 15, 2025, to carry out the update.
Tesla’s failures
This is not the first time that tesla warns of a failure in their vehicles. In 2023, the medium NBCNews revealed that the company’s design problems have caused 7 unit recall campaigns due to errors of this type.
Just last November, tesla announced the recall of 2,400 units due to a “possible failure in the traction reverser,” which causes a loss of power in the wheels, leading to the risk of accidents.
Likewise, last July, the company Elon Musk recalled 1.8 million cars because the hoods could unintentionally open during a drive.
However, despite the series of recalls, the company has managed, for the most part, to resolve these failures through software updates which also helps avoid physical processes.
