At Athletic Club they do not close the door to the possibility that Alex Padilla have experience in Liga MX where there are already rumors about the possible interest of the UNAM Pumas to add the Mexican goalkeeper trained in the LaLiga team.
The technical director of the Basque team, Ernesto Valverde, spoke about the issue prior to this Saturday’s match against Osasuna for the Spanish championship, making it clear that although they still have Álex Padilla, he would not rule out the possibility of him leaving for the Mexican tournament. .
“I don’t know, it’s a question that should still be reflected on. I have no idea about it (about the Pumas’ interest). At the moment Padilla is with us, we are going to play a game and I don’t have to worry about anything else.”released the strategist who then did not close the door to a possible departure of the player.
“From the 31st (December) if there is any possibility and we see that it could be good for his training, for him and for the club, it will be evaluated.”Valverde pointed out in relation to the 21-year-old Mexican goalkeeper trained in the club’s youth ranks and who debuted this season with the first team.
In recent days in the Mexican press there has been talk of the UNAM Pumas’ interest in adding Álex Padilla as reinforcement for the Clausura 2025 tournament of the Liga MX but for now there is no formal negotiation with Athletic Club to seek the incorporation of the player.
However, for Ernesto Valverde it is still too early to talk about a possible departure for the player taking into account that this season he has already had to use him in some unexpected situations in which the team’s other goalkeepers have been out.
“The most important interests that you must maintain are those of Athletic and the player, we will see if there is any possibility or not, tomorrow something may happen with a player and we have to reach other situations, we are not there yet”commented the Spanish coach.
Álex Padilla has played a total of five matches this season in LaLiga with Athletic Club, in which the Basque team has a record of one victory, two draws and a couple of defeats. However, the Mexican has not had any minutes of action since last October in the loss against Girona (2-1).
His debut in the first division with Athletic also earned him being taken into account by Javier Aguirre for the Mexican National Team, as well as being concentrated a couple of times with the Aztec U-23 team.
