These were some of the major developments during the 2024 United States presidential election.

Primary elections

It was the first presidential debate of that year’s United States presidential election. Joe Biden’s poor performance led directly to his decision to withdraw from the presidential race a month later.

Biden, 81, was already fighting voters’ concerns about his age, but He seemed hesitant and seemed to lose his train of thought. Thursday night, sparking quick concerns among Democrats about the candidate they expected to win the election.

Republicans quickly used the attack as a show of Trump’s strength and resilience.

In just 25 days, the presidential race changed on historic proportions with an attempted assassination of one candidate and the withdrawal of another from the race.

Kamala Harris is the Democratic presidential candidate

After Biden’s announcement that ended his campaign, the vice president Kamala Harris she sought the nomination instead of the president, and the Democratic Party immediately rallied around her.

The Democratic Party selected Vice President Kamala Harris as its candidate during a virtual roll call vote on August 2, 2024, ahead of the in-person 2024 Democratic National Convention, which took place August 19-22, 2024 in Chicago, Illinois.

On Tuesday, September 10, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump faced off in a debate hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Second attack against Trump

On September 15, another assassination attempt occurred against Donald Trump at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, while Donald Trump played golf. There were no injuries and the suspect was detained before shooting.
