Within the framework of International Migrant Day, which is celebrated every December 18, the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, released the “hymn to migrants”, performed by a group of young people called “Legado de Grandeza” and “Huichol Musical”.

“This is today’s gift to all our countrymen and women who are in the United States”said the president when welcoming the young people who sang live in the Treasury room of the National Palace.

“We are part of a group, we call ourselves Legacy of Greatness, in reality we all have an individual project but we wanted to do our part to give a gift to our country and our nation,” said one of the members of the group.

In what was the shortest morning conference (one hour and 15 minutes) since she took office as president of Mexico, Sheinbaum Pardo asked Mexicans to appropriate this anthem.

“Well, this is the gift to our countrymen, countrywomen, appropriate this anthem to all Mexicans, it is also beautiful and each of you is a great singer, I don’t know about you, but it makes our skin go crazy, it fills our hearts and makes us feel very proud of being Mexican.”Long live Mexico!” he expressed.

“To all our countrymen and women, appropriate this anthem, long live the migrants, Mexico is also written with M for Migrant”, he commented.

The lyrics of “Himno Migrante” highlight the feeling of being a Mexican migrant, of working and growing up in the United States, in addition to praising the strength of migrant women.

“Where I’m from we don’t give up, we work on any land, the sacrifice is never in vain, we have reached space,” says part of the lyrics of the song.

“I am Mexican and we change places and not flags, green, white and red are in our veins“Like the eagle we fly without borders, we break the fence that separates lands and we were born with a legacy of greatness,” the song expresses.

“To our immigrant women and mothers, an example of strength and courage and long live Mexico,” the lyrics specify.

The head of the Mexican executive again described immigrants in the United States as heroines and heroes in addition to telling them that Mexico will always be their home.

“To each and everyone we send our love, our recognition, we say that the Mexican brothers and sisters who are in the United States are heroes and heroines who have moved forwardbrave, courageous and we are not only going to always recognize them but we are also going to always support our brothers on the other side of the border and they know that your home is always here. Thank you for everything you do for your families and thank you for everything you do for Mexico.”

After the video of the Migrant Anthem was presented in the “Mañanera del Pueblo”, it was uploaded to the social networks of the Mexican government.
