The Eagles of America reaffirmed their status as the best team in the Apertura 2024 tournament, since not only were they crowned champions by beating Monterrey 3-2 on aggregate, but that title was supported by the Águilas having monopolized the designations of the ideal eleven of the recent championship.
With four players and coach André Jardine, The Americanistas were established as the best squad of the recently concluded contest and where the chosen ones were goalkeeper Luis Ángel Malagón, defender Ramón Juárez, midfielder Álvaro Fidalgo, forward Henry Martín and coach
The designations do justice to the great performance shown by these players, especially Luis Malagón and Ramón Juárez, who were fundamental for América to have a great league, while in the case of Henry Martín for his performance in the regular tournament like the Spanish Álvaro Fidalgo.
In addition, the Apertura 2024 title allowed the American team to achieve a historic three-time championship in short tournaments.which tied a record that stood for 50 years when Raúl Cárdenas at the head of Cruz Azul achieved it in the 1973-74 season by beating Atlético Español.
Now that honor corresponded to the Brazilian André Jardine who achieved it against all odds in the Apertura 2023, Clausura 2024 and Apertura 2024 seasons, allowing the Coapa team to achieve its title 16 in history in the team with the most soccer titles in Mexico.
The rest of the ideal eleven
Apart from the four América players, the second team with the most players chosen as the best of the Apertura 2024 tournament in the Liga MX was Cruz Azul with three players as the defenders Ignacio Rivero and Carlos Rotondi, as well as forward Ángel Sepúlveda.
In the case of the cement squad, it is not surprising that these three players have been nominated, since even other elements such as goalkeeper Kevin Mier and even Luis Romo were close to being considered, but the defeat in the semifinal against América was the ounce that tipped the balance in favor of the Águilas players.
Then Atlético San Luis was placed with two players Rodrigo Dourado and Eduardo Águila, while Monterrey and Toluca appeared with a player, the Spanish Sergio Canales and the Brazilian Paulinho, elements that were key for their respective teams to qualify for the league and in the case of the Rayados to play in the grand final.
