Fire alert issued for Southern California before the arrival of a new round of Santa Ana winds starting this Tuesday night, the National Weather Service (NWS) reported.
The NWS warning comes a week after the Franklin Fire that broke out on the night of December 9 in the Malibu area and which expanded rapidly driven by the intensity of the wind.
The risk of a fire breaking out is due to the combination of dry conditions and the strength of the Santa Ana winds.

The red flag warning It is valid from 3:00 pm this Tuesday, December 17 until 6:00 pm on Wednesday.
The fire alert by the NWS includes the Santa Clarita Valley, the Malibu coast, the Santa Monica Mountains Recreation AreaCalabasas, the western San Fernando Valley, the western San Gabriel Mountains, and the Highway 5 (Golden State) and Highway 14 (Antelope Valley) corridors.

The NWS forecast that on most coasts and valleys, maximum temperatures They will range between 60 and 75 degrees.
“The peak wind will be reached on Wednesdaywith a moderate Santa Ana wind. Wind advisories are likely to be issued in the typical Santa Ana wind corridor,” the NWS said.

According to what the NWS expects, This new round of winds will not be as intense as the one we had last week and that, possibly, was the one that set off the Franklin Fire in Malibu, the causes of which are still under investigation by the authorities.
According to the NWS, An increase in temperatures is forecast for the rest of the weekwhich can be between four to eight degrees, for much of the region, with maximum records of between 70 and 80 degrees.
