FC Barcelona confirmed this Monday that Lamine Yamal will be out of the field for three to four weeks due to an injury to his right ankle suffered during the defeat of the Catalan team against Leganés (0-1) on Sunday in a LaLiga match.
After some initial examinations, the outlook did not look at all encouraging regarding the physical condition of the young star of the Barça team, who after carrying out the relevant examinations this Monday determined that he has trauma to his right ankle that leaves him out for the remainder of 2024.
“Lamine Yamal had a trauma to his right ankle in the game against Leganés. The tests carried out on December 16 show a grade 1 injury to the anterior intertibio-peroneal ligament. The approximate sick leave time will be between 3 and 4 weeks.the club announced in a statement.
Lamine Yamal, just 17 years old, received a blow to his right ankle during the first half of the match that FC Barcelona ended up losing against Leganés (0-1) in Montjuic and was unable to complete the match as he had to be replaced by Gavi at minute 75.
It is not the first time this season that the talented Spanish forward has had to stop due to physical problems. He was recently out for several games as a result of muscular overload and now he will miss at least the next two FC Barcelona games.
The Euro 2024 champion with Spain will not be in the league match against Atlético de Madrid, which this weekend tied the Catalans at the top of the Spanish tournament standings, nor will he be in the first leg of the round of 32 of the Copa del Rey in the first days of January.
