Trump taps TruthSocial CEO to lead intelligence advisory board

The elected president donald trump announced on Saturday that he intends to appoint Devin Nunesa former Republican congressman who served as head of the House Intelligence Committee, to chair the President’s Intelligence Advisory Council.

In announcing Nunes’ appointment, Trump wrote in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Nunes will use his time as chairman of the Intelligence Committee to “provide independent assessments of the effectiveness and appropriateness of the Commonwealth’s activities.” of Intelligence of the United States.

While in Congress, Nunes repeatedly defended Trump amid the Justice Department’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump, in his statement Saturday, alluded to Nunes’ previous efforts to combat the Justice Department investigation, saying the former congressman would also capitalize on her “key role in exposing” the probe, which he referred to as a ” deception”.

The President’s Intelligence Advisory Board advises him on intelligence assessments and estimates and counterintelligence matters. The board usually works in secret.
