The German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Annalena Baerbock, does not rule out the possibility that Berlin could contribute troops to a hypothetical peace mission after a ceasefire has been proclaimed in Ukraine, he said this Tuesday on the sidelines of a meeting in Brussels at the level of NATO ministers.

“It is very clear that just as, like Germany, We have worked more than 1,000 days on this peace, of course in the future we will support with all our strength everything that is at the service of peace“She stated, when asked about it by journalists.

However, he stressed that Ukraine “decides alone” with what objectives to go to the negotiating table with Russia.

According to Baerbock, for months there has been talk in various formats, such as the G7, NATO or the European Union, of the fact that “different “elements for peace” in Ukraine “are on the table”, among which he cited guarantees of political and material security, entry into NATO or an international presence to guarantee a ceasefire, among others.

However, The minister stressed that what is still absent is the willingness of the Russian president, Vladimir Putinto “stop the aggression and sit at the table.”

He also conveyed this same message this Monday during his meetings in Beijing, where he stressed to his Chinese interlocutors that “everyone must do their part” to achieve peace.

Furthermore, Baerbock emphasized that “If we talk about peace, it must be a just peace, not a freezing of the conflict that leads to more rearmament and more attacks against Ukraine or even other European countries.”

kyiv asks NATO partners for twenty defense systems

The Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Andrí Sibiga, this Tuesday, asked his counterparts from NATO member countries to send twenty additional air defense systems to Ukraine so that Ukraine can protect its Army.population and infrastructure from Russian attacks.

“Ukraine urgently needs the supply of at least 20 additional Hawks, NASAMS or IRIS-T air defense systems. This will help avoid blackouts,” Sibiga said in a statement to the media in Brussels, where he is participating in a meeting of NATO foreign ministers focused mainly on the war in Ukraine.

Sibiga also called for more support to reinforce the Ukrainian Army on the front, where kyiv is losing ground daily due, in part, to the numerical superiority of Russian forces.

“We need to stop Russia and not allow its Army to advance into our territory”he declared. “Their logic is evident: they try to occupy as much territory as possible to strengthen their negotiating position in the future,” the Ukrainian minister stressed.
