Hiker who disappeared in Oregon found dead: ex-husband charged with murder

Susan Lane-Fournier, the hiker who was missing with her two dogs in Oregon, was found dead last Friday in a desert. Her ex-husband has been arrested by authorities and charged with her murder.

Michel Fournier, 71, was arrested Friday on charges of second-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.

Friday morning, Lane-Fournier was found dead in Welches, a remote area of ​​Clackamas County, after a search that lasted several days. According to authorities, the autopsy determined that his cause of death was homicide.

Lane-Fournier, 61, had been reported missing a week earlier, on Nov. 22, after failing to show up for work, according to authorities.

She was also known as “Phoenix,” the sheriff’s office said.

Her two dogs, which went missing with her, were also found dead Saturday, the sheriff’s office said.

Weeks before her disappearance, according to The Oregonian, Lane-Fournier filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. The two had been married for 12 years.
